The European AI Act

What you need to know and how to tackle
the legal challenges correctly

With the advent of artificial intelligence, more and more companies have begun to increasingly automate their work processes and are using tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.

To ensure safe use under standardised regulations, the European Union passed the  EU AI ACT  in 2024 – the legal basis for the socially compliant use of AI applications and functions.

This promotes innovation, efficiency and further development, as well as the responsible use of AI. We have summarised for you what this means for companies.

EU AI Act - The Essentials at a Glance

  • Copyright and data: AI systems must be trained with data from verified sources. Results generated by AI are not protected by copyright under EU law

  • Data protection: Compliance with the GDPR is still essential. The AI Act strengthens transparency and limits the scope of autonomous action by AI.

  • Business secrets: Generative AI harbours risks for sensitive business information. Companies are required to protect their data against unauthorised access in accordance with strict security requirements.
